Ponca City, Oklahoma, man arrested for attack with glass bottle
Mora accused of aggravated battery and burglary, criminal threat and damage
The Arkansas City Police Department arrested a man on multiple charges after he allegedly struck another man with a glass bottle on Christmas Eve.
Austin Christopher Mora, 22, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, criminal damage to property, criminal threat and disorderly conduct.
Mora was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $23,500 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. He remained in custody at the time of this release.
Officers responded Dec. 24 to a report of a male with a head injury at an address on North A Street. They encountered a 43-year-old male victim with an injury to his head at that location.
They also found a younger man, later identified as Mora, with blood on him. The Arkansas City Fire-EMS Department was called to the scene to treat both men’s injuries.
Police learned that Mora and the victim had been involved in an argument at the residence, but Mora had left. Shortly after, he allegedly returned, forced his way into the home and attacked the victim.
The victim fled the house on foot, but Mora allegedly chased him, hit him in the head with a glass alcohol bottle and began to attack him again. The victim escaped to a nearby residence and called 911.
The victim was treated at the scene and declined medical transport. Mora was transported to South Central Kansas Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, and later released and taken into custody.
A defendant’s guilt or innocence is to be determined by a court of law.
