Arkansas City Police Department seeks suspect who had firearm

Man accused of brandishing weapon toward victim during May 8 incident

Arkansas City Police Department logoThe Arkansas City Police Department is looking for a male individual who is suspected of aggravated assault in connection with an incident on the of afternoon May 8.

The suspect is described as an African-American male wearing a black tank top and possibly jean shorts. He is in his mid-20s and has bushy hair. The suspect’s vehicle is a black Dodge Dakota Sport.

Officers responded about 4:42 p.m. May 8 to a disturbance reported in the 1600 block of North Summit Street. One of the individuals involved was armed with a blunt object, they determined.

That person still was at the scene and reported that the other party involved possessed a firearm.

Police searched for the other person involved, but were unable to find him. They determined that during the altercation, he apparently had brandished a firearm toward the person with the blunt object.

This case remains under investigation and police have not yet determined the identity of the man with the firearm.
