Arkansas City teen in critical condition after weekend shooting

Police still investigating Nov. 9 incident that led to 17-year-old’s wounding

Arkansas City Police Department badgeARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (Nov. 12, 2019) A 17-year-old Arkansas City boy was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries after being struck by a gunshot during an incident Nov. 9.

The Arkansas City Fire-EMS and Police departments were dispatched at 9:46 p.m. Nov. 9 to a residence in the 500 block of South D Street for a report of a gunshot victim.

First responders arrived and located a 17-year-old Arkansas City male with a gunshot wound.

He was transported by the Arkansas City Fire-EMS Department to South Central Kansas Medical Center and later airlifted to a Wichita-area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time, but the incident remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time, but there may be a follow-up news release.
