Arkansas City man arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault

Social media argument led to confrontation; suspect tried to strike with vehicle

Arkansas City Police Department logoAn Arkansas City man was arrested Oct. 18 by the Arkansas City Police Department in connection with an aggravated assault late that night.

Barclay Michael Bratcher, 23, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault. He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $10,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City.

Bratcher since has posted bond and been released.

Police responded at 10:12 p.m. Oct. 18 to K & L Auto, 615 N. Summit St., for a report that someone had tried to run over a 20-year-old Arkansas City male with a motor vehicle.

Further investigation disclosed that a social media argument had led to a confrontation in which the suspect allegedly attempted to strike the victim with his vehicle in the 600 block of North Summit Street.

They identified the suspect as Barclay, who was located in the 500 block of North First Street and arrested in connection.

A defendant’s guilt or innocence is to be determined by a court of law.
