Rural Ark City man arrested on suspicion of DUI after accident
McCue allegedly left scene of sign, curb damage; located later with vehicle
The Arkansas City Police Department arrested a rural Arkansas City male June 14 on suspicion of drunk driving in connection with a minor traffic accident.
Sean Daryl McCue, 21, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, which is a misdemeanor. He also was cited for careless driving and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
McCue was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $750 bond through Arkansas City Municipal Court. He since has posted bond and been released from custody.
Officers were dispatched about 6:14 p.m. June 14 to Arkansas City High School, located at 1200 W. Radio Lane, for an unknown injury accident involving a motor vehicle.
A vehicle driven by an unknown motorist had struck a curb and a sign, as well as damaged grass.
While officers were en route to the scene, dispatchers informed them the vehicle had left the scene.
The vehicle later was located in the 2600 block of North 23rd Street, where officers contacted McCue. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and subsequently was taken into custody.
A defendant’s guilt or innocence is to be determined by a court of law.
