ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (Jan. 4, 2019) — The Arkansas City Police Department arrested an Independence woman Dec. 31, 2018, in north Arkansas City on shoplifting charges and an outside warrant.
Charity Dawn Davisson, 43, was arrested on suspicion of two misdemeanor counts of theft. She also was arrested on a warrant through Montgomery County District Court.
Davisson was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. She remained in custody at the time of this release.
Officers were dispatched about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 31, 2018, to Orscheln Farm & Home, located at 2715 N. Summit St., for a report of an individual possibly trying to steal something inside the store.
Police contacted several people in a white Ford Taurus in the Orscheln parking lot. One of them, Davisson, was found to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Montgomery County.
After she was arrested on that warrant, a search of the vehicle found evidence of shoplifting from both Orscheln and Walmart, located at 2701 N. Summit St. Theft charges were added to her booking.
