Man arrested after ingesting unknown drug to conceal evidence

Ledbetter accused of burglary, criminal trespass, interference, possession x2

Arkansas City Police Department badgeARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (Feb. 14, 2019) The Arkansas City Police Department arrested a homeless Arkansas City man Feb. 13 on drug charges after he attempted to conceal evidence.

Justin Don Ledbetter, 41, was arrested on suspicion of one felony count of burglary of a motor vehicle and two felony counts of interference with the judicial process.

He also was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as two misdemeanor counts each of criminal trespass and theft of property or services totaling less than $1,000 in value.

Ledbetter was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $12,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. He remained in custody at the time of this release.

Officers were dispatched at 4:27 p.m. Feb. 13 to the intersection of East Monroe Avenue and South A Street for a report of a man who had been seen walking out of garages, carrying a backpack.

They made contact with Ledbetter, who was transported to South Central Kansas Medical Center for treatment after ingesting an unknown drug substance in an alleged effort to conceal evidence.

He later was medically cleared, released from SCKMC and transported to the county jail.
