Arkansas City man arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault
Hernandez also accused of DUI, disorderly conduct, interference with LEO
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (June 4, 2019) — The Arkansas City Police Department arrested an Arkansas City man June 3 on multiple charges after a traffic stop for driving under the influence.
Wilder Hernandez, 27, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, driving under the influence of alcohol and interference with a law enforcement officer.
Hernandez was transported to the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $50,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. He remained in custody at the time of this release.
Officers were dispatched June 3 for a report of a vehicle being driven recklessly and nearly striking people. The reporting party indicated that the driver was suspected of alcohol impairment.
Police were able to locate the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop in the 700 block of North B Street.
The driver, who was identified as Hernandez, showed indications of being under the influence of alcohol. When officers attempted to place him in handcuffs, he began to resist arrest.
Hernandez was taken into custody after a short physical altercation with the officers.
