Nighttime texting and driving education initiative planned

Police officers will educate drivers about texting while driving from 7 to 8 p.m.

Arkansas City Police Department badgeARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (Jan. 23, 2020) The Arkansas City Police Department will conduct a nighttime “texting while driving” education initiative Jan. 25 to better educate local drivers.

From 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 25, officers will contact drivers and occupants of vehicles to provide them with educational information about Kansas laws regarding texting while driving.

If officers observe other violations involving a certain vehicle, they may stop that vehicle and speak with the driver or occupants of that vehicle.

This nighttime texting education initiative is designed to encourage the safe operation of motor vehicles. Its goal is to increase motorist safety and provide education about this dangerous behavior.
