Child dies despite EMS taking over CPR following drowning
ACPD continues to investigate incident that occurred earlier this afternoon
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (May 14, 2020) — The Arkansas City Police Department is investigating a possible drowning that occurred May 14 in southeast Arkansas City.
The Arkansas City Police and Fire-EMS departments were dispatched at 5:04 p.m. May 14 for a report of a possible drowning in the 800 block of South Boyer Road.
They arrived to find CPR was being administered to an 18-month-old boy and EMS personnel took over the life-saving efforts.
The child was transported by ambulance to South Central Kansas Medical Center, where he later was pronounced deceased.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
