Boy transported to hospital June 2 after being struck by vehicle

Injuries were minor; driver not cited because juvenile was not in a crosswalk

Arkansas City Police Department badgeARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (June 3, 2020) The Arkansas City Police Department investigated an accident June 2 in which a juvenile pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, but did not issue any citations.

Officers were dispatched around 5:57 p.m. June 2 to the 1200 block of North Summit Street for a report of an 11-year-old male who had been struck by a motor vehicle southbound on Summit Street.

Police learned the juvenile was trying to cross the road eastbound on foot when he was struck.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his face and head. He was transported by the Arkansas City Fire-EMS Department via ambulance to South Central Kansas Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle was not cited in connection with this accident because the juvenile was not in a crosswalk at the time he was struck by the vehicle.
